Detailed Information

Old South Church founders were descendants of separatist and dissenting Pilgrims, Puritan reformers, and Bay Colony merchant adventurers. They determined to keep their doors open seven days a week, providing to all who walk past a Sanctuary in the City. Old South Church founders broke away from Boston’s First Church to found a church aching to dispense the waters of baptism more liberally. They believe that all people are made in the image of God. They welcome all ages, genders, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, classes, marital statuses, and physical or mental abilities. Old South Church founder’s worship is their most elemental and formative work, renewing, challenging, and creating space for the rituals that mark the seasons of their lives.
