Georgia State Capitol is an architecturally and historically significant building in Atlanta, Georgia. The Capitol is among 43 national historical sites in Georgia. The building was built on the courthouse site of Atlanta/Fulton county (1854-1884). The capital has been the focus of Georgia’s policy and legislation and the scene of countless colorful events in the state’s history. Since its reconstruction, Georgia State Capitol has modern architecture, culturally, economically, and socially important as the symbolic cornerstone of Georgia’s politics. It has over 500,000 bricks rescued from the City Hall, Georgia stone for the interior, and local pine. It gives tourists a chance to see the state’s most important government building firsthand. Capitol delivers interpretive tours to give visitors an overview of Georgia’s past and the Capitol building.
