Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist is one of the famous churches in Boise City. The church was the dream of Bishop Alphonse Glorieux, under whose direction The church was constructed in 1870. The first Bishop of Father Glorieux, the President of St. Michael’s College in Portland was appointed in 1884 of the newly created Vicar Apostolic of Idaho, for which Boise City was the seat. At that time, only two priests served the entire Idaho territory with its 1500 parishioners. Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Liturgy Council is a team of parish members committed to enhancing their liturgies. Their liturgical aspects of the parish are the responsibility of this council. Their ministry schedules and training for the Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Altar Servers, and ushers are coordinated through this council.
