Detailed Information
City Museum consists primarily of repurposed architectural and industrial objects situated in the former International Shoe building of St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The City museum attracted more than 700,000 visitors. The museum was founded by artist Bob Cassilly and his then-wife, Gail Cassilly. The building was once an International Shoe Company factory, and the warehouse was primarily vacant when cassillys bought it in 1993. The structure of the iconic giant whale in the lobby was completed in 1997 on October 25, and the museum was opened to the public in the same year.
