Historic Fort Wayne is a 19th-century military fort on the Detroit River with tours, re-enactments & community events. The fort is a non-profit environment 501(c)(3) by the IRS. The site was used as an induction point for Michigan men and women serving in America’s military during each war in the late 19th and 20th centuries in Fort Wayne’s history. The Coalition is active in the preparation and organizing of several Fort activities and offering frequent and unique tours. The site is perfect for experiencing an immersive civil war weekend that will leave students eager to know more. HFWC’s alliance with the region’s Boy Scouts of America and many troops come to the fort to spend a weekend or night. It also affords free entry.
